Stuart qualified as a scuba diver in 1996 and currently holds a PADI Assistant Instructor certification together with specialities in enriched air and deep diving.

In 1999 he volunteered for a reef conservation programme with GVI  (www.GVI.co.uk) in the bay islands of Honduras. This is where his passion for under water photography started with an old, housed Olympus film camera. He had no interest in photography until he started diving and wanted a way of showing non divers the wonderful underwater world.

He soon outlived the Olympus and moved on to an amphibious Sea and Sea motor marine II which served him well until 2006. With a pending trip to Truk Lagoon he finally gave up film and made the transition to a digital Nikon D100 SLR in a Subal housing with the help of a one to one tuition day with Martin Edge. Stuart's current camera is a Nikon D300s with 60 and 105 macro lenses, 12/24 and 10/17 zoom lenses and a 10.5 Fish eye lens.

Stuart's dive trips have taken him to some far and varied places. From the Caribbean to Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Micronesia and most often the Red Sea. He occasionally dives in the UK but prefers the warmer climes!
